To create an out-of-this-world adventure. Our mission is to create an exciting and lasting space experience and make it accessible to everyone. Our project was inspired by the Golden Records aboard the Voyager Spacecraft. We also wanted to create an "Earth Time Capsule". It's our idea of a message-in-a-bottle. An archive of our knowledge, languages, memories, thoughts, iconic moments, historical events, books, poems, stories, animals, landscapes, stories, and much more in the form of pictures, and texts. With all of us having the chance to upload and contribute to it. The chance to share and tell our own stories. We'll use cutting-edge analog data storage technology to protect the contents for thousands of years and encase it all in an artistic and space-proof satellite to endure the harsh conditions of outer space. We're designing pictographs and exploring various methods for them to be accessible and legible for the future discoverer. The big "Think" is for it to exist for thousands of years with the chance for it to be discovered by future space-faring explorers. Lastly, only 2 of these devices will be created (why we named it Pic2Space). The 2nd identical twin will be stored at an undisclosed location on Earth. An archeological dig and discovery for our future selves to show and tell our story. All of this is extremely exciting.

A rideshare program is a service that allows small satellites to be launched into orbit at a lower cost by sharing the ride with larger satellites. This program enables universities, research institutions, and commercial companies to access space and conduct experiments and research that were previously not possible due to the high cost of launching a satellite.

The photos are digitized and then engraved onto a special nickel-based film called Nanofiche, which is highly durable and can withstand extreme conditions in space. The Nanofiche is then mounted onto the CubeSat as part of its payload.

The CubeSat is attached to the US company providing the rocket as part of the rideshare program and is deployed into orbit once it reaches the desired altitude. The CubeSat will then orbit the Earth in Medium Earth Orbit for thousands of years.

We are partnering with an inspiring space company providing rideshare programs for smaller projects as well as working with engineering companies to develop and test our technology. We've always dreamt of space and space exploration. In 2018, we drafted the idea to send a message to the future in a space-time capsule. However, the technologies required to achieve this dream were not accessible at that time. But with the advancement and accessibility of new technology, we're able to make this dream a reality. It's also a case of knowing that we might be born too soon to travel to space ourselves, but we would love to send an item to space that can outlive us for many years. It will be inspiring to look up at the night sky and know that a picture we sent to space is out there, waiting to be discovered in the future long after we're gone.

We've put a lot of thought into our time capsule, and we're thrilled to share it with future space travelers. Our goal is to ensure that the contents are not only accessible but also understandable to anyone who finds it. We understand that technology can change rapidly, so we're taking the analog approach to create a device that will stand the test of time. To make sure that our time capsule is as user-friendly as possible, we'll include detailed pictorial images and instructions. These images will show future discoverers how to access, view, and enjoy the archive. And because we're relying on visuals, there's no need to access data files to view the photos or text. We're using cutting-edge laser-etching technology to create the images on nickel sheeting that will remain visible for many years. We're also keeping in mind that the future discoverers of our time capsule may come from a civilization more advanced than our own. So we're designing it to be as "universally" understood as possible. Our hope is that it will inspire and serve as a valuable resource for those who discover it. We're excited to be creating a time capsule that will tell our story, allowing future generations to learn about our civilization and our incredible time on Earth.

The "2" in the name Pic2Space refers to our project that involves launching two identical cubes. One of the cubes will be sent to space, while the other will be buried somewhere on Earth at a secret location. Once both cubes have been dispatched, we will erase all data from our computers, leaving only the data stored on these two cubes as a permanent record of our project. In other words, the two cubes are the only remaining memory of our project, and they serve as a physical and lasting reminder of our mission.
